Hide SiteMap Lecture and Debate in the American University of Beirut (AUB)
spacer Invited by the Awareness and Student Activism Clubs at AUB, the Lebanese Parliamentary Monitor team presented the project, and focused on ‘How to Monitor, and how Representatives Are Held Accountable through this Process?" The Lecture provided a success model for AUB students to replicate, based on the LP Monitor, because the Student Activism Club was exploring a monitor procedure for the Student Representative Council at their University.

Hide SiteMap The LPM team in Notre Dame University (NDU) Chouf:

Presented in front of NDU students of mixed educational background to create greater awareness of the project and present ways of participation in it. The students' majors were mostly in Social Sciences, and participated in discussions after the lecture was over. It has to be noted that this was the first activity for the LP Monitor team outside Beirut and henceforth started setting foot in promoting the LP Monitor in other regions.

Hide SiteMap Official Launching of the Lebanese Parliamentary Monitor!
spacer The website was launched in the presence of NGO representatives and interested activists. The event included three speakers who were Dr. Hilal Khashan (Chairman of the Political Science Department in AUB), Ms. Nancy el Sabeh (News Reporter in New TV), and Mr. Said Sanadiki (Executive Director of LADE). The event introduced to the audience the concept and the importance of the LP Monitor while the team members explained the different sections of the website.

Hide SiteMap The Lebanese Parliamentary Monitor Team in London!

The LPM and the Lebanese Physical Handicapped Union travelled to London from March 30, 2008 till April 9, 2008 in order to acquire the experience of different specialists and activists in order to transfer their lessons to Lebanon's Civil Society and activists.  The delegation met with over 30 figures whose backgrounds are Members of the House of Common, NGO spearheads, Economists, Senior Civil Servants, and Parliamentary Monitors. The Delegation will share their London experience by publishing a pamphlet that summarizes the lessons and tips in different domains to assist the Civil Society and activists in improving as well as reforming Lebanon.

spacer The LPM team updated the MPs addresses, the phones and emails where available, so that citizens and the Civil Society would call them and express their anger towards the political crisis as well as the dangerous events which affected the lives of every citizen in Lebanon. <br> Our team also vowed to expand the communication between the Members of Parliament and the Citizens by placing in the near future Fax numbers of the MPs.

spacer The LPM team went to the University of Saint Joseph ( USJ ) in Tripoli and introduced the students to the electronic site of the LPM, and discussed the importance of monitoring and judging  the MPs based on the legislative participation rather party affiliations. The debate rotated around holding the MPs accountable and voting for them based on legislative activities.

The LPM team was also invited by Beiri  - Akkar, activists who wanted to establish a monitor on their municipality in order to judge their activities based on productivity rather party affiliations. The LPM team described the need of the LPM, and discussed different potentials of assisting the Beiri activists by comparing activities of the LPM on a national scale and  potential activism on a municipality level. It has to be noted that the Beiri activists hope they can set  a prototype model for other towns to follow.

Hide SiteMap Discussion Panel on the UK Trip

Na-am and LPHU members assembled on June 10, 2008 to list to the findings and lessons of their trip to the UK. Other members of the Civil Society were invited to attend since one of our several progressive aims is to empower the Civil Society The Lectures of the UK team were given in Arabic and English, so were the Questions and Answers, and there were two interpreters (Arabic to English & English to Arabic available to guarantee that all attendees fully comprehended the lectures) as well as interpreters' equipments. LPHU's Ms. Silvana Lakis was the facilitator for the event.  Finally, the event was organized in a panel form, whereby a projector was used, as well as Who's Who handouts were distributed.<br> Topics Covered: <br> - Overview of the UK System <br> - Summary of the trip <br> - Advocacy in the UK <br> - Monitoring in the UK <br> - Policy Making in the UK <br>  - Democratic Participation in the UK <br> Place: Bristol Hotel <br>

spacer The LPMonitor Arabic website was published in 2007 as a static website. After months of work, the LPMonitor team is nearly ready to launch the new user-friendly website in Arabic. Website visitors can use the search engine to find all information regarding any MP, public policy, or performance indicator. This will be taking place in August.

Hide SiteMap New Search Engine is Out on the Arabic LPM Site
spacer Lebanese Parliamentary Monitor team has successfully integrated the new CMS driven website into the Arabic site. Now, people can attain all information in a user friendly manner on the activities of one or more MPs (or one or more Parliamentary Block) in regards to public policy planning. The new search engine is available in the "اعمال النواب" section.
To view two or more MPs, two or more parliamentary block, activities inside two or more districts, or activities on two or more electoral districts, or of the above, just click the Control button in each box.
It has to be noted that all material on the MPs' activities exists from the latest parliamentary elections in 2005 till April 2007. The LPM team is currently updating their archives in order to make all information to be available on day-to-day basis.
